Happy birthday Hellmut Hattler! The bass player extraordinaire and songwriter recently turned 65.
Time for a nice, extensive retrospect to enjoy his old-age pension then?

Unthinkable! Neither glorifying the good old times nor retiring from the public life is an option for Hattler. The ideas are flowing. The man holds his bass in a firm grip, the stage is his thing. He’s taking the past into the present, designing the future with it. He summoned colleagues and (both male and female) musical companions of all his bands to the studio. Not to hark back to the echo of legendary KRAAN track "Wintruper Echo", not to recycle TAB TWO’s "No Flagman Ahead", either. Hellmut Hattler serves only fresh fare. For each of his projects he composed and recorded new songs: with KRAAN, TAB TWO, HATTLER, the Ali Neander Projekt, Deep Dive Corp., SIYOU'n'HELL and other companions. Pure life energy manifests itself here. Hattler’s course is: ahead! The album title "Bassball II" refers to Hellmut Hattler’s very first solo album "Bassball" from 1977. He takes up the cognition as a stimulus that he’s got ideas in his head which could only be realized outside of his former homebase, the band KRAAN. The new album "Bassball II" can’t make do with just a single band line-up. Hellmut Hattler uses the entire playground of his different projects and composed new targeted tracks for the respective artists. Among them acts who he could celebrate global success with. Hattler proved already long time ago that the various line-ups, philosophies and sounds can all be reconciled. On his 60th birthday they were all standing on one stage, in his hometown Ulm. Everything was connected to everything else, held together by his prominent bass playing and his unmistakeable style of writing. This is precisely what captures us on his new album. Hellmut Hattler has set the bar high: "Probably the best musical idea of my life ..."

Though being far from a best-of album, "Bassball II" features Hellmut Hattler at his best.
